Hello! I stumbled upon your blog/Flickr while searching for E-PL3 night shots… Really impressive photos, I must say. I just bought the camera recently and have failed miserably at taking night shots.
Any tips you might like to share? I’m also really amazed at how you managed to take shots where only the subject is in focus and the background is all blurry. Thanks in advance!
Hi Shirlyn – hope you are enjoying the E-PL3 as much as I am, it’s a great camera. I’ve never really taken any good night shots before but this time I used a GorillaPod for SLR’s to keep the camera still and also used the 2 second timer to ensure I was no where near the camera when the shutter went off. Those 2 things really made a difference.
I used Aperture setting and I think it was on about 20 or 22. Each shot took about 45 seconds – seemed like forever but I’m so pleased with the results. I think this one might end up on my wall
Thanks for having a look at my pictures
Hi Kim,
Thanks so much for the tips! Will be getting one of those tripods soon. (: Have a happy new year!
