The night before Christmas

It’s the final countdown to Christmas 2012. Always a favourite time of the year

The Red Arrows were here!

The Red Arrows were here, originally uploaded by Kimb0lene.

This is more of a topical picture rather than anything else. One taken in a moment of surprise and having to dig my phone out of my bag and snap this photo of the after effects of the Red Arrows going overhead.

I was at the Hyde Park Opening Ceremony concert last night, and in the middle of a Duran Duran song, the Red Arrows flew past. Because of the loud music you couldn’t hear them approach and they caught everyone by surprise. It was a great moment.

Picture taken on my iPhone. Unedited (and it shows) 🙂

Into the dark. iPhone4

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures with my Olympus E-PL3 lately, but I haven’t forgot the camera on the iPhone. As always, it’s the one camera I always have with me.

I’d lost a lot of momentum with Hipstamatic – maybe because there are so many combinations these days and I just couldn’t be bothered. Last night I decided to try out some combinations on the flowers before they died.

This one turned out so nice – it’s exactly how it came out of the iPhone – not app adjustments. This used John S Lens, Dylan Film and Jolly Rainbo2X Flash

Back at the MCG

MCG, originally uploaded by Kimb0lene.

The last Aussie Rules game I went to was about 14 years ago, so getting to a game whilst in Australia was top of my list. Couldn’t be any old game, it had to be Collingwood and it had to be at the MCG. That left me with Collingwood v Brisbane on Saturday night. There’s no way I’ll get tickets to the finals game, so seeing a regular season game was my only option.

Had a great time, even though I didn’t know who was anyone on the team. I used to go to the footy every weekend when I lived in Melbourne but after 14 years you lose some of the passion. Some things never change though: the umpires never get it right 🙂

A lot of things have changed in the 14 years since I’ve been to the footy: umpires wear different colours, there are far more umpires than before and some silly new rules introduced. All that aside, it was a great night and I really enjoyed it.

I took this photo with iPhone 4 and Pano App. It was taken before the game started and it did end up being a little fuller than the photo suggests. The final crowd was 47,788
The MCG is an amazing place when it’s full

Through the grass: Hipstamatic Libatique 73 Lens

Through the grass, originally uploaded by Kimb0lene.

I used the Hipstamatic Libatique 73 Lens for the first time yesterday and was quite pleased with the results. The lens has quite an earthy tone about it and it worked well with the grasses.

I’m sure I’ll be using this lens again.

All of my pictures can be seen over on Flickr

Featured iPhoneographer: Me

The good folks over at have included me in their Featured iPhoneographer section. It was difficult (but interesting) exercise to provide just 10 photos for the feature, and I’m very pleased with the results.

I’ve also had a noticeable increase in traffic on Flickr and Instagram since the article was published.

Thanks to Star Rush for her patience whilst waiting for me to get everything together.

Big Boat, Little Boat

Big Boat, Little Boat, originally uploaded by Kimb0lene.

I have more photo’s of HMS Warrior than you can shake an iPhone at, but this boat moored in the foreground made for a slightly different photo. The water was quite calm in the shallows and there was a nice reflection off the boat. The sun was glistening off the water as well, you can see that towards the back of this shot.

Taken with iPhone 4 and Hipstamatic.
